Networking is more than just putting your business name out there for people to find you, but it is also a part of getting to know people, who are going to spread the word about what you do, what you sell, and that are going to support you in all that you do. Networking is going to involve getting to know as many people in life as you can, and putting your business in front of those people, so they will represent your name, your business, and will tell others about what you have to offer.

If your business requires that you travel often, or perhaps you travel often to find supplies, visit relatives or just because you like it. If so, then go out there and socialize - if traveling with family, purchase a seat away from them (you'll rejoin them anyway once you get off) and socialize with the person you shall be sitting next to, or even talk to people at the airport while waiting to board the plane. It's about meeting and greeting, do so to at least one random stranger a day.

So what should you do in order to achieve this?

"Hi there, how's the day going so far?" is a question that could go a long way. Ask questions. The best way to get to know someone is to ask questions. You have nothing to lose anyway, and everything to gain by asking these questions. Asking questions is a good icebreaker, in turn, the person is going to want to talk about their self, and where they are traveling too. Then it would be time to hit them with a "leading question", like asking if the trip is business or personal in nature.

And as the conversation progresses, the person will ask his or her own questions, and this would be the perfect opportunity for you to discuss your business or potential sales opportunities. Pretty soon you will have a sizeable network of contacts and a large number of friends, as long as you make it sure to know no less than one new person on a daily basis. The process of increasing your network can be best achieved if you are at home with the concept of talking to strangers and making interesting conversation. Force yourself to do this. Pressure yourself to meet that quota of one new person met per day. As you make this a point, you will make this a habit and in the long run, your business will thrive for it.
